The Route

From the Acropolis station, through cobbled lanes and secret courtyards, our lens will follow your steps as you trace the heart of old Athens.

📍 1. Acropolis Metro Station

Starting Point: Convenient access to the Acropolis Museum and the southern slope of the Acropolis.

🏛️ 2. Thrasyllou Street

Odeon of Pericles: Archaeological remains of an ancient music hall.

⛪ 3. Stratónos Street

Agios Georgios Church: A historic church marking the entrance to the Anafiotika neighborhood.

🕍 4. Church of Agioi Anargyroi Kolokynthous

Byzantine Church: Built atop the ruins of an ancient temple dedicated to the goddess Eileithyia.

🏛️ 5. Prytaneiou Street

Agios Nikolaos Ragavas Church: Dating back to the 9th century, known for its historic bell that rang to signal the end of Ottoman occupation.

🏛️ 6. Tholou Street

First University of Athens: The Kapodistrian University of Athens, the first university in Greece.

🏛️ 7. Panos Street

Anafiotika Neighborhood: A picturesque area resembling a Cycladic island, built by workers from Anafi.

🏛️ 8. Polygnotou Street

Zografou Mansion: A historic building facing the Ancient Agora, once owned by Dr. Konstantinos Zografou.

🏛️ 9. Dioskouron Street

View of the Acropolis: Offers a clear view of the Acropolis, providing a scenic backdrop for photographs.

🏛️ 10. Epameinonda Street

Proximity to Roman Agora: Close to the Roman Agora, an ancient marketplace featuring the Tower of the Winds.

🏛️ 11. Dexippou Street

A narrow, photogenic street connecting the heart of Plaka to bustling Monastiraki. Lined with neoclassical buildings, small souvenir shops, and occasional glimpses of the Acropolis peeking above the rooftops. Great for candid street shots and transitional photos between the quiet of Plaka and the buzz of the market.

📝 Named after Dexippus, a 3rd-century AD Athenian historian.

🏛️ 11. Areos Street

A short street that leads into the vibrant commercial pulse of Monastiraki. It offers a blend of old-world charm and modern energy, with antique stores, hidden courtyards, and traditional craftsmanship still alive in the area.

🔍 Fun fact: “Areos” means “of Ares” — tying back to Ares, the Greek god of war.
